~ Beautiful 1886 Steinway & Sons Concert Upright Piano ~
This absolutely stunning Steinway & Sons Concert Upright Piano has just had its restoration completed in our Adelaide restoration workshop.
Manufactured in the original Steinway & Sons Piano Factory in Hamburg, Germany, this amazing piece is an extremely rare find in Australia and is part of our premium piano range.
Since receiving the piano we have conducted a complete dismantle of the original Burl walnut cabinet, playing mechanism, pedal mechanism and original ivory keyboard.
The stunning European Burl walnut cabinet featuring finely crafted mouldings, carved fillogree legs and extended side panels was finely treated and restored to look beautiful, whilst also keeping its original character. European burl walnut is an extremely rare and exotic timber, now no longer available and this particular example is simply a stunning looking vintage piano.
In addition, the piano still has an original ivory and ebony keyboard, a feature now no longer available on new Steinway Pianos. The ivory keys were all tested with some requiring regluing, a common part of our restoration process.
The playing action of the piano was completely dismantled, every component checked over and repaired where necessary. Following this, the action was reassembled and the piano fully regulated and fine tuned to A440 concert pitch.
Steinway & Sons Concert Upright Pianos were the world’s most prestigious and sought after premium upright piano in its time and this majestic example is a powerful statement of class and sophistication. It has a beautiful presence and powerful deep and warm tone that only a high quality Steinway & Sons vintage piano can produce.
