The restoration of this piano is now almost complete and it is on display to view and play at our store in Evandale, South Australia. A historically significant piece, this Julious Blüthner ‘Patent’ Grand Piano has an extremely early serial number of 681, dating it to approximately 1852.
Manufactured in the original Julious Blüthner piano factory in Leipzig, Germany in approximately 1852; to our knowledge, this is the earliest Julious Blüthner Grand piano currently in existence in Australia. For a piano enthusiast, this piano may well be the earliest and most rare Blüthner grand piano in Australia.
This beautiful instrument incorporates fluted legs, carved fillogree music desk with slide out candelabra mounts and original ivory & ebony keyboard. It was part of a private piano collection which also included 3 historically significant John Broadwood grand pianos from a similar era - (these are currently in the process of restoration planning).
The piano has tastefully restored including new tuning pins, German made replica strings in the bass and Roslau piano wire in the treble. Also completed was a restoration of the original Blüthner patent action and pedal mechanisms. The aesthetics of the piano including cabinetry and original ivory keyboard are due to be completed in cooperation with the purchaser to determine exactly how they would like it to be presented.
A stunning historical piece, this piano oozes class and sophistication and would suit either a period style home or modern home as an amazing and classy feature piece. Alternatively a museum or historical house.
