This absolutely stunning John Broadwood & Sons Semi-Concert Grand Piano is without doubt the most beautiful vintage Semi-Concert grand we have ever had in our store in the past 30 years. A true statement of class and sophistication from the post-romantic period and golden era for European pianos.
Manufactured in the original John Broadwood & Sons piano factory in London in 1894, it is the only example of this particular model with squared Victorian styled carved legs, rosewood cabinet and filigree music desk that we have ever seen.
Privately acquired by us via a private piano collection auction, this piano was transported directly from the previous owner to our piano restoration workshop in Adelaide. Meticulously restored on site, this piano has had over 300hrs labour spent on its restoration. With its amazing hand carved Rosewood cabinet including squared Victorian styled legs, decorative pedal Lyar and filigree music desk, you will most likely never see another one of these pianos again in Australia.
The piano has had a complete ‘nut and bolt’ restoration which included a full restring and repin, full action rebuild, full cabinet repolish and full ivory and ebony keyboard restoration. This piano plays absolutely perfectly like the day it left the Broadwood factory and is as close to being in original condition ‘as first sold’ that you are ever likely to find.
