You will most likely never see another restored and fully functional square grand piano as beautiful as this again in Australia. Previously owned by a piano collector in Adelaide we discretely acquired this beautiful piece last month.
Manufactured in the original Hornung & Möller Piano factory in Denmark in approximately 1852; this piano is both an amazing historical musical instrument as well as stunning piece of European musical art.
Conrad Christian Hornung (1801–1873) began building pianos in 1827. He transferred ownership of the company to his assistant, Hans Møller in 1851, and Hornung & Møller continued to manufacture pianos until 1972.
Tastefully restored in our workshop in Adelaide; this piano looks beautiful aesthetically beautiful and plays mechanically perfectly. Functional square grand pianos are becoming almost impossible to find in Australia and this rare example would make an amazing collectors item or talking point in the right setting.
The restoration of this piano included a complete dismantle, rebuild of the original playing mechanism and ivory keyboard. The flamed mahogany cabinet with original mahogany turn top piano seat has also been tastefully restored to keep the integrity of this antique piece.
